Croeso i Gymru!!
Bore da!
Wow! Wales is amazing, and so different from Southport. I can't really compare the two, because they are different in so many ways. Wales is beautiful! The green hills, the castles, the sheep, the scarily narrow roads, it is all so beautiful! The people seem very nice here as well!
Bangor, in itself, is a university town, and so we meet with a lot of the students who attend there. It has been difficult having lessons, however, because all the students are preparing for their finals. It is a high-stress time for many of them, and have such little time to meet with us. Despite this, we were able to have two miracle lessons!
The first was with Jummai. She is a progressing investigator, who recently accepted a baptismal date for the 2nd of June! We weren't actually planning on meeting with her, we were just walking past Pontio, when Elder Larson saw her. We talked with her a bit and she said, "are you busy right now? Can we meet right now?" So, with that blessing, we went to a nearby bench, and taught her an impromptu Plan of Salvation lesson. It went really well, and she asked a lot of really good questions! She is very inquisitive. It was amazing, because each question she asked we could answer with the plan of Salvation. Near the end of the lesson, we invited her to pray to know if what we had taught is true. She quickly replied, "I know it's true!" This caught us a bit off guard. Her faith in God impresses me, and I look forward to meeting with her more!
The other meeting was with a Chinese student (I can't quite remember her name). She even invited her friend along! The lesson went really well. It was quite a bit different for me, as they mainly spoke in Mandarin. So, Elder Larson had to lead the lesson. I could follow a bit of what was happening, and every so often, Elder Larson would fill me in, and ask me to teach a principle or two, and if needed, he would clarify in Mandarin. It was a good lesson, and they seemed to understand fairly well!
This week I also started a Book of Mormon challenge from President McReynolds. The challenge is to read the entire Book of Mormon in the month of May (17 pages/day), and focus my studies on a specific question. Mine being how does the Book of Mormon testify of Jesus Christ? I have noticed that studying this way is a highly effective way of studying! I have seen each day my study bless me. I have felt the spirit more intensely, doctrines have been clarified, and I have felt my Saviour's love, and the love of my Heavenly Father more abundantly than ever before!
Invitation of the Week
I invite you all to read from the Book of Mormon every day for the next week! (and longer if you would like 😉) It doesn't have to be 17 pages per day, however, I would invite you to think deeply about a question you would like answered and study with that question in mind!
I have seen how greatly the Book of Mormon has effected my life! I know that it is another testament of Jesus Christ, and worked hand-in-hand with the Holy Bible. Through the prayerful study of these books, I know we can become closer to Christ and our Heavenly Father. We will come to truly know of His existence and influence in our lives.
I love you all, and wish you all the best week!
