Escape to London!

Hi all!

Wow, what a week! I barely even remember what happened. This week we did a bit in preparation for Remembrance day and Christmas. For Remembrance day, we help collect at the Poppy Appeal. Which pretty much meant that we stood inside Sainsbury by the Poppy Appeal table, which had a selection of poppy related items, and collected donations for the Royal British Legion. It's one of the few fundraiser type venues that we're able to help with. It was a blast. We got to talk to so many amazing people, and remember those who gave their lives for our freedoms in WWI, which ended 100 years ago. Our Sunday was a bit different too. Normally church starts at ten, but it was delayed until noon because of a community Remembrance parade and service. It was quite an experience for me, as the service was run by the local All-Saints church. It was definitely different from any service I've attended, including the First-Christian church (Flashback to Nauvoo Pageant Bagpipe band). As part of the service, they had a piper play the tune "Piper's Lament". It was good to hear the pipes again! After the service, we had our sacrament meeting, but no classes.

We also had a ward activity this week, where we helped make and fill shoe boxes for the Samaritan's Purse. We filled these packages with little toys and goodies for children, and they will be sent throughout forty different countries and given to those children who wouldn't have gifts otherwise. It was really fun making them. Elder Rice and I got into the swing of making the boxes!

Now, to explain the title: Our district wanted to do something special for this P-day. So, we finally decided to take a trip down to London, 221B Baker Street to be exact!  We were hired by Scotland Yard to help discover the name of an unknown victim and his murderer, while being fed clues from a man on the inside. We only had 1 hour to accomplish this task before the murderer got away on a train. We had to buckle down and work together as a team. We were faced with many trials, difficult puzzles and questions, but we, together, became victorious! We found the name of the victim and the assailant!

Okay, in all reality we went to an escape room here in Wellington! It was so much fun! Our district accomplished the task with 12:47 left on the clock, and we only used 3 hints! When we came out the final door, the man running it told us that we performed very quickly, we worked well as a team, and he was surprised we only had to use 3! (We could have gotten away with 2, but we had them and decided to use them) It was so much fun!

Anyways, I love you all! I know this one wasn't the most gospel related, but do know that I love the Lord. I know that God loves each and every one of us. He knows us individually and by name. He is our Heavenly Father.
