Muppets, Mazes and the Mires

Hello!

The capstone of a great week has come! I was able to attend the temple today!! I am so grateful for such an opportunity. It has been over a year since I have been able to go, so it has been long awaited. We almost weren't able to make, because public transportation wouldn't get us to the temple in time. However, we were pleasantly surprised to hear a member of our bishopric stand up on Sunday and say something to the effect of, "we have been entrusted to watch over the missionaries here in Rochdale. Their parents expect us to care for their children as they serve here. With that said, the missionaries...."

I fully expected him to say something like 'the missionaries need more tea appointments', however, what he said surprised me. He said, "The missionaries have the opportunity to attend the temple tomorrow morning, however, they will not be able to make it, because of the Bank Holiday, unless we help them. We ask anyone that is able, to please talk with the missionaries and offer your help so they can attend the temple." It was quite the shock to us. I am so grateful for Brother and Sister Stephens for giving us a lift to and from the temple ☺

As for the rest of the week, I had exchanges with Elder Carlson. It was a blast with several good memories. He is hilarious, 7ft tall, and about to go home (tomorrow!). We had a really good time, found two new people to teach, and played an epic game of chair football with the young men in the ward. We also stayed in Rochdale, so double score.

After exchanges with Elder Carlson, I went with Elder Offei in Bolton. It was really fun there, because there is a lot more people than in Rochdale! We spent a lot of time talking with people on the streets, which normally tires me out in Rochdale, but the amount of people there kept me so energised!

On Sunday, we also had a little miracle! There was a woman who walked into church a few weeks back, that we haven't seen since then. We decided to try by her. We took the trek to her home, only to discover that the address we had did not exist! We didn't know what to do, when a young woman came out of her home to take out the rubbish. Elder Mbuli suggested that we ask her if she knew the lady. (I'll admit, my thoughts were "no, she's not going to know her. Blah blah blah...") We decided to ask her, when she said, "oh, yeah! That's my mom. Come on in!

We met the whole family!

So, I learned a little bit about Humility this week, and the fact that pessimism never gets you anywhere, except the destination of missed chances and opportunities.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week!

Much love,
Elder Burns

Oh, and the title!!..... It has nothing to do with the actual letter 😁
